Peter's newest adult novel will be launched in the Main Room of the Putney Public Library—with special musical guest John Ungerleider—and with a special auction of "The Complete Works of Peter Gould!"
RED NOSE GIRL is launched! On a rainy Tuesday night in Hardwick Vermont, twenty people crowded into the little library, and clapped, nodded, and applauded as Peter sent his newest young adult novel out into the world. Thanks to the Galaxy Bookshop for selling the first-ever copies!
This new bookshop in Cornwall has invited Peter Gould to do a live reading of a touching chapter of Horse-Drawn Yogurt, and to tell the story, “How I Became a Vermont Justice of the Peace,” accompanied by Gould’s soulful Anglo concertina.
I'll be hosting a book discussion at Saxtons River Inn--a great respite from the wintry cold. Come and get a copy of Horse-Drawn Yogurt if you don't already have one. I'll read a story from the book, and we'll all share ideas and feelings about the 1970's Vermont "Back-to-the-Land" movement.
Peter will read stories from Horse-Drawn Yogurt, as a public event and fundraiser for the West Glover Community Church--across from Parker Pie and down the road from the Lake, in West Glover Vermont. Peter lived on a "Back to the Land" commune in southern Vermont during the heyday of the movement which was also centered in the hills and woods of greater Glover. Come at 6:00 for a down-home, good food Pot Luck Dinner. Oh, and bring your guitars and fiddles & voices, too. Peter will lead us in singing his new song, "Mother of Exiles," about how the Statue of Liberty welcomes Immigrants and refugees!
CORTLAND HILL ORCHARD in West Brattleboro is sponsoring a Saturday of GLEANING. Come and pick up apples for yourselves, make a donation, and pick up gleanings to be shared with the local FOOD BANK. Apples for All! To commemorate this end-of-the-harvest day, Peter will read a Horse-Drawn story at high noon.
Peter will lead a session with his soon-to-be-published novel, SEED MAN. It's hopeful dystopian fiction set in a future Earth where most of the men are sterile. Peter's first novel BURNT TOAST (Alfred A. Knopf, 1972) was a back to the land commune fantasy. Peter will lead a discussion about putting your characters and story into totally imaginary times and places.
Peter will share stories from Horse-Drawn Yogurt at the Brown-Bag Lunch in the Strolling of the Heifers River Garden. Bring a sandwich and listen to a story about the meals we ate and the foods we grew and produced at Packer Corners Farm. Peter was one of the original founders of the wildly successful Brattleboro Farmers Market--back in 1974!
Peter will read the story "Wait, Don't Throw That Away!" at the Rockingham Public Library. It's one of the exciting stories from Horse-Drawn Yogurt, and it tells of the deliberate deconstruction of one of the treasures of Bellows Falls: the majestic old freight depot full of valuable wood and one big surprise!
Peter will deliver a lecture on the "back-to-the-land" movement of the 1970's in Vermont, with excerpts from his autobiographical point of view: it's all in Horse-Drawn Yogurt. Part of the Osher Lifelong Learning Lecture Series of the University of Vermont. AT THE LEARNING COLLABORATIVE ON RTE. 5 NORTH OF BRATTLEBORO'S EXIT 3.
Peter will be signing books at the Green Writers Press table in the River Garden at the Brattleboro Literary Festival on Saturday afternoon, followed by an author reception at the Dianich Gallery at 139 Main Street (where the offices of GWP are located).
Peter will read from HDY and will be hosted by this venerable bookshop--under exciting new management!--in the lovely hamlet of Woodstock, Vermont, where he'll be introduced by Alison Clarkson. Alison is well known in the area as a State Senator, but less well known is the fact that Alison is a great Peter Gould fan and booster and will help to "bring out the troops" for the event!
Two Green Writers Press authors, Peter Gould & Nancy Kilgore will read at Phoenix Books on Thursday September 28th at 6:30 pm
Peter will read from Horse-Drawn Yogurt, and he'll be joined in commune songs by Jonathan Stevens of Hungry Ghost Bakery: Peter on concertina and Jonathan on guitar. This will be Peter's first reading in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts!
Peter will read from Horse-Drawn Yogurt. Food will be served from 6:00. After swallowing, the reading will begin at 6:30 approx.
As one of 2017's "Guilford Reads" events, Peter will share copies of HDY at the Guilford Fair. Come and share the shade of the Free Library booth, and, if you've read the book, come and talk about it with the author. If you haven't, there will be copies there.
Horse-Drawn Yogurt: Stories from Total Loss Farm is a patchwork of true stories of a young man’s life on a Vermont farm commune at the height of the back-to-the-land movement. Peter will read from his newest book, play some music, and answer questions in a lively discussion.
Peter takes off his Shakespeare hat and returns to the Galaxy Bookshop to share his new book, HORSE-DRAWN YOGURT: STORIES FROM TOTAL LOSS FARM.
Peter will be doing a performance reading of Horse-Drawn Yogurt, as well as singing and playing songs with Marlboro, VT musician Dan MacArthur at this very special event on July 13th, 7:00pm-8:30pm, at the Putney Public Library.
Free admission. Donations and half of the book sales from this event will benefit Cynthia Payne-Meyer, a beloved Putney resident and storyteller friend of Peter’s who sustained a very serious injury in April. Peter will also auction a complete set of all his published books, including his latest, Horse-Drawn Yogurt.
Peter Gould will read and perform excerpts of HORSE-DRAWN YOGURT: STORIES FROM TOTAL LOSS FARM at Lost Nation Theater on Tuesday, July 11 at 7:30pm. Sponsored by Red Hen Bakery and Bear Pond Books.
Peter brings his stories back to where they happened: right in Guilford, VT. Experience insights into the town's history: What was it really like? How did these folks become us? What ever happened to those we knew? How are we different as a result of their presence?
Peter will be reading from his new book, HORSE-DRAWN YOGURT: STORIES FROM TOTAL LOSS FARM, at the Guilford Meeting House on Sunday, June 25th at 2pm.
